In 1998, Ron Donati and his son Matt bought about 1,000 acres of land that was once part of Almaden’s large vineyard in Paicines. A couple hundred acres are planted with vines. Prior to this purchase, the family had been involved in cattle ranching for years. Donati Family Vineyard is family owned and has been in operation for over 20 years. We strive to produce amazing wines and we can’t do this without our award-winning winemaker, Briana Heywood. Briana is familiar with both small and large wineries, and she is experienced in crafting a variety of exceptional local wines.
Donati has partnered with premium grape growers in various sub regions to bring you the ultimate Paso Robles experience. We are proud to support our local growers and take pride in their sustainable farming. Practicing sustainable farming allows for improved quality of grapes, soils, and topography.
“Here at Donati Family Vineyard, we consider you family as well! With our warm casual atmosphere, we want you to make yourself at home, drink good wine, and make great memories.”
“The 2019 Donati Family Vineyards Claret offers aromas of cherry cola, cherry, raspberry, chocolate powder, tootsie roll, caramel and vanilla. On the palate there is bright, clean acidity. Pomegranate notes balanced with spices of nutmeg and white pepper, as well as rhubarb and cherry. Integrated medium tannins do not dominate.”
– Winemaker’s Notes
“Pretty glossy and generous with some white pepper, dark chocolate, blackberries and tobacco. Savory plums, too. Rich and flavorful with dusty tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Quite resolved and savory with some vanilla spices looming in a medium-long finish. Generous in the end.”

:”Complex…. a power pack loaded with smoky, cherry, chocolate and decadent rich flavors. A real full bodied wine!! Best served with beef or pork.”
